Doug Borow is a transplant Texan From Illinois and a graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University with a B.S. in Risk Management. After college Doug spent much of his PGA Apprenticeship working as an assistant golf professional under the auspices of Tom Wilcox PGA Master Professional at Sunset Ridge County Club in Northbrook, Illinois, Dick Hyland at Desert Mountain Club in Scottsdale Arizona, and Pat Gorman at Bent Pine Golf Club in Vero Beach Florida.
Doug has over 20 years of operational and project management experience working as a General Manager at Cypresswood Golf Club in Spring, Texas and Olympia Hills Golf & Conference Center in Universal City, Texas. Additional experience includes Director of Golf at Indian Lakes Resort in Bloomingdale, Illinois and Head Golf Professional at Eaglewood Resort & Spa in Itasca, Illinois.
Doug is an accomplished manager and catalyst for implementing innovative tactics that streamline operations with business vision. Proven ability to build and facilitate relationships with members, company leaders, partners, clients, vendors, and employees that results in higher net operating income and increased revenues. Successful in managing all facets of multi-million dollar projects from initial development to change management through implementation that consistently meets organizational objectives. Excellent planning, organizational, communication, and negotiation skills. Solid charismatic leadership style—creates results-driven, high-performance workforce with positive morale, and high productivity while fostering work-life quality.
Doug was the recipient of The Texas PGA's President Plaque for 2010. The STPGA Presidents Plaque is awarded annually to a Section member who has proven in his or her leadership ability and has been actively involved in the promotion of "Play Golf America" to fellow STPGA members. The recipient must be a member of The PGA America's President's Council on Growing the Game.
Doug has demonstrated continual dedication to The Southern Texas PGA and its efforts in the realm of "Play Golf America" while expending considerable effort to keep his facility involved in the program. Doug was a key player in the arrangement that resulted in The Southern Texas PGA relocating its offices to his facility which in turn became the Section's "official homesite." Borow can proudly document a wide and deep array of activities either directly or indirectly related to "Play Golf America" activities.
From Doug's work to involve his facility in The STPGA's Junior program for 10 weeks per summer for the past several years to his participation in "Kids Play Free" and "Free Lesson" opportunities, he has involved his golf club with thousands of golfers in efforts to keep them playing the game.
John Stark was born and raised here in Lake Jackson, Texas and is 26 years old. He attended grade school and high school in Lake Jackson as well. He is an aspiring golf professional very eager to enter into the golf business, and he feels there is no better place to do so than here in his home town Lake Jackson, Texas. His first place of employment was Riverside Country Club doing outside work, and soon after he moved inside the golf shop during his summers off from college. After leaving Brazoswood High School, John attended the University of Houston for his freshman year. He left the University of Houston to pursue an education at Texas A&M University. John graduated from Texas A&M University in May of 2004 with a B.A. in Agricultural Economics and started working for the Wilderness Golf Course soon after. His hobbies besides playing golf are hunting and fishing the Texas gulf coast area.
Larry Monte has been a lifelong resident of Brazoria County having been born and raised in Freeport, TX. Larry is a resident of Lake Jackson where he and his wife, Barbara, raised their 3 children and grandparents of 6. Larry had a very successful year career at playing high school golf at Brazosport High School. He attended and played golf at Stephen F. Austin University in Nacodoches, TX. Larry was an assistant pro at Elkins Lake CC in Huntsville and El Dorado CC in Humble, TX for 2 years. Larry accepted his first Head Professional position at Freeport Country Club in Freeport, TX. He developed several golf instructional programs during his 6 year tenure at Freeport. Larry spent additional 16 years as The Head Professional at Riverside CC in Lake Jackosn, TX and has developed a passion for teaching the game.

Blayne C. Sparks is originally from Patterson, Louisiana and a graduate of Louisiana State University with a B.S. in Turfgrass Management. While attending L.S.U., he was introduced to golf course maintenance at The Island Golf & Country Club located in Plaquemine, Louisiana. During the summer of his junior year, he interned with Heritage Links of Houston, assisting in the construction of an additional nine holes to the Starr Pass Golf Course & Resort in Tucson, Arizona.
After graduation, Blayne and his wife Katherine moved to Pearland, Texas where he became the Chemical Technician at Magnolia Creek Golf Links in League City. From there, he was hired as the Assistant Superintendent at The Wilderness Golf Course in Lake Jackson. Although golf is his first passion, some of his other interests include alligator hunting, fishing and snow skiing.
